The Full Story
The T & C Legacy Foundation was created to commemorate two very important people that our family lost too soon, Trevor Lakes and Campbell Ricke.
Trevor Lakes, husband to Kim Lakes, father to Ashton (Cody) Ricke and Brady(Shelby) Lakes, and grandfather to Breckyn, Gray, Lennox, Emery, Jaxon, Campbell, Ripp and Baker lost his battle with his mental health struggle in December of 2021. Trevor tragically took his life shortly before Christmas, leaving his family to grieve his loss around the holidays. Like so many people with mental health struggles, he always put on a brave face and put his family above everything until he couldn’t. Our family patriarch will never be forgotten but we wanted to make sure we could keep his memory alive by giving and supporting others that may be in need or going through tragic losses like we suffered.
Campbell Ricke, daughter to Ashton and Cody Ricke, lived a short but triumphant life from April 19-24, 2022. In December of 2021, Ashton and Cody learned of Campbell's heart condition, Transpositioning of the Greater Arteries and formed a game plan with the pediatricians and cardiologists at The Children’s Hospital in Omaha. Unfortunately, there were unexpected complications with Campbell’s heart and she did not survive to come home with her big brothers and parents. We will forever miss her and want to offer our support to families that are affected by pediatric health crises in her honor.
By and far, 2021-22 was one of the hardest years our family has ever gone through. As a family, we have come together to create this foundation to help others going through trying times. We will keep all proceeds local for our community and help lift up any family or group as much as we can. Our goal is to continue to grow our foundation and help more each year.
